*The Devil Wears Prada** *star Adrian Grenier* *just gave fans a gift that's more valuable than $8 worth of Jarlsberg cheese.
Grenier has partnered with Starbucks for a comical ad teasing his feelings about not reprising the role of Nate — the love interest of Anne Hathaway's budding journalist, Andy Sachs — in the upcoming *Devil Wears Prada 2*.
"You might've seen the headlines. I wasn't asked to be part of a certain sequel," Grenier says in a close-up shot in the ad. (Last June, * *was the first to report that Grenier would not appear in *The Devil Wears Prada 2*.) But, I'm good. Really." The camera eventually pulls back to reveal that he's standing in line at a Starbucks.

A confused barista replies with a timid, "Okay..." before Grenier continues, telling him that "it's all good energy" on his part.
"So, a toast to Nate," Grenier says while taking a seat near a fellow Starbucks patron whose outfit nods to the famous cerulean sweater scene from *The Devil Wears Prada*.
"He made a mean sandwich, loved his girlfriend... to a point," Grenier continues, referencing Nate's affinity for making grilled cheese sandwiches for Andy. "Okay, so, he wasn't perfect. So, let's leave Nate in 2006 and keep this good energy going!"

The commercial ends with Grenier slightly course-correcting, as he adds, "I mean, if they call... I'm free."
EW has reached out to representatives for 20th Century Studios for comment on the commercial.
In the 2006 film, Andy's relationship with Nate begins to sour as her career picks up while working for intense fashion magazine head Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). In their final scene together, it is implied that they get back together, after Andy quits her job* *and toys with the idea of moving to Boston, where Nate landed a job as a chef.**
The lack of support Nate shows for Andy and her career goals has led some fans to say that he, not Miranda, is the true villain of the movie. Grenier addressed the criticism in EW's 15th anniversary oral history reunion with the cast and crew of *The Devil Wears Prada*.
"All those memes that came out were shocking to me," Grenier said. "It hadn't occurred to me until I started to really think about it, and perhaps it was because I was as immature as Nate was at the time, and in many ways he's very selfish and self-involved, it was all about him, he wasn't extending himself to support Andy in her career."
He continued, "But after time to reflect and much deliberation, I've come to realize the truth in that perspective."
Leading up to the release of the sequel, EW also exclusively revealed that *Evil*'s Patrick Brammall would replace Grenier as Andy's love interest in the second film.
On Monday, a new trailer premiered "Runway," a previously unannounced song from the *Devil Wears Prada 2* soundtrack by pop icon Lady Gaga — who also has a small role in the film — and rapper Doechii.
*The Devil Wears Prada 2 *is in theaters on May 1. Watch Grenier's Starbucks ad above.
