- The former couple separated in 2011 and finalized their divorce a decade later.

- “We are proud of the fact that we are still in conversation,” Shriver said of her ex in 2025.

Summer 2026 included a family reunion for the Schwarzenegger-Shrivers.

Katherine Schwarzenegger reflected on her last few months of bliss with a surprise photo that showed her parents Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver posing together, five years after 2021 divorce.

“Summer… you were good to us!” Katherine captioned the series of photos on Sept. 8. “Back to reality.”

The second image in her summer recap featured a family dinner with nearly all her siblings. In the photo, Katherine held on to mom Shriver, who was sitting next to Arnold. Christina Schwarzenegger and Patrick Schwarzenegger were also present. Arnold and Maria’s youngest, Christopher Schwarzenegger, was not present.

Everyone was smiling in the photo, which appeared to be taken at a birthday celebration for Arnold, who turned 79 in July. The *Terminator* star sat in the middle of the dinner table with a slice of cake and massive sparkler in front of him.

Arnold and Shriver were married for 25 years before their 2011 separation. Their divorce was finalized 10 years later. Their breakup came two months after Arnold publicly confirmed that he had fathered son Joseph Baena with former housekeeper Mildred Baena.

Despite the circumstances of their split, Shriver told **’s sister site PEOPLE in 2025 that she and Arnold are “in a good place” and always communicate about their family. “We laugh a lot about our kids, our grandkids, ourselves, and we are proud of the fact that we are still in conversation.” She added, “I’m really happy with my life and my work with my children.”

Two years prior, Arnold also reflected on their split in a separate interview with PEOPLE.

“It’s not like we had a feud. We didn’t have a fight. It’s just my f--- up, right?” Arnold said in 2023, discussing where he stands with Shriver now. “She said, ‘Okay, this is what it is,’ and then she decided to make a split, so it was her decision. But the fact is, we always made it very clear that the kids should not suffer because of that.”

The exes act like they’re together, but “we have separate lives,” he added. “She has her things, her relationship, I have mine.” But they are always communicating.

“My chapter with Maria will continue on forever,” Arnold added. “Even though it’s a different relationship, there’s no reason for me to feel anything other than love for her.”
