Days after revealing their relationship and her pregnancy, Aubrey Plaza stepped out to support Christopher Abbott.

News broke on Tuesday that the *Parks and Recreation* star was expecting her first child with Abbott, her costar in the 2020 film *Black Bear* and the 2023 Off-Broadway revival of *Danny and the Deep Blue Sea*. Abbott is now back on the stage for the latest production of Arthur Miller's *Death of a Salesman*, and he and Plaza made their first public appearance together since their big news at the show's after-party in New York City.

Plaza's pregnancy and relationship with Abbott comes more than a year after the death of her filmmaker husband Jeff Baena, who died by suicide in January 2025. The couple had been separated for months at the time. Plaza previously spoke to her *Parks and Rec* costar Amy Poehler about the "daily struggle" that life had become after the loss of Baena.

“Overall, I’m here and I’m functioning,” she said. “I feel grateful to be moving through the world. I think I’m okay.”

Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott: Their journey from costars to expectant parents

Plaza and Abbott first collaborated on the psychological drama *Black Bear*, acting as two-thirds of a twisted love triangle. They then reunited for Plaza's first theatrical production, the two-person play *Danny and the Deep Blue Sea*.

“He cares but he also doesn’t care; it’s the best recipe for me for a scene partner,” Plaza previously said of working with Abbott, who added, "We’re both unafraid to be ugly and weird and strange.”

EW's Dalton Ross has declared Abbott to be "absolutely mesmerizing" in his new Broadway show. "Abbott has already proven he can take on a damaged New Yorker, wowing audiences in a 2023 Off-Broadway revival of *Danny and the Deep Blue Sea*," Ross wrote in his review of *Death of a Salesman*. "But while that character was a walking rageaholic, his Biff is a more complex ball of conflicting impulses and influences. It all comes to a head in a pivotal Act Two scene between father and son that allows the actor to deftly paint with multiple brushes at the same time. (The intensity of that scene alone will likely land Abbott his first Tony award come June.)"

In regard to their big pregnancy update, a source told PEOPLE that it "was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year."
