Ben Affleck remains in action star shape — just like his BFF and The Rip costar Matt Damon.
Affleck, 53, and Damon, 55, poked fun at each other's sex appeal when they spoke with E! News at The Rip's New York City premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 13. "Show 'em," Affleck joked, making him and Damon both laugh when a reporter said that Damon's abs for his upcoming movie The Odyssey look "amazing."
Asked about a scene in the pair's new crime drama in which Affleck takes off his shirt and shows his own impressive chest, Damon said, "I think he wrote that scene in because he saw that picture [of Damon filming The Odyssey shirtless] and he immediately went to the gym and was like, 'I'm going to do a scene with my shirt off.' "
"You're going to see my abs — you know, it's about me, really," Affleck joked. When Damon noted that Affleck had the benefit of The Rip cinematographer Juanmi Azpiroz "tweaking lights" on set to make him look better compared to "the flat light of the sun" when shooting The Odyssey outdoors, Affleck added, "So I wasn't in that much better shape than him. Just a little bit better. I don't want to get the wrong idea."

Damon first showed off the impressive physique he developed for Christopher Nolan's adaptation of The Odyssey when he was seen filming the movie in March 2025. On Jan. 7, the actor noted during an appearance on Jason and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast that he filmed The Odyssey "at 167 pounds," which he said is the lightest amount of weight he's carried around since he was in high school. Damon also said in that interview that he stopped eating gluten as part of his diet for the role.
“When I do that or when I do the Jason Bourne movies or whatever, it feels almost like a season, I would imagine, what that feels like for you guys where you're preparing," he said on the podcast. "It's like just part of your day. It's part of your job, right? It's like you get really routinized about it and kind of build your day around all that stuff. That's kind of the physical side of getting ready.”
