Brandi Carlile is opening up about aging.
During a March 31 appearance on Amy Poehler's Good Hang podcast, Carlile, 44, revealed she doesn't mind aging because she loves being older.
"Every year, I get older, I love being older than I love being younger," she said with a smile. "I just love it. I like everything. I like the way that my reverence has grown and my sense of humor has changed."

"I choose myself in more situations. I like the way my face looks," she added. "I like it."
Carlile, who released her eighth studio album, Returning to Myself, in 2025, said she can't wait to enter her 50s because she believes it'll be her "favorite decade."
Despite her views on aging, Carlile, who is a mom of two kids, Evangeline, 11, and Elijah, 8, whom she shares with her wife, Catherine Carlile, said she always tells her little ones that they should enjoy every stage of their life.

"I love young people, and I'm always like, 'Oh, enjoy that space. Be there.' And I have kids too, and I'm like, 'Oh, my God, be a kid! Be a kid! But if I'm really honest, that wasn't my favorite part of my life."

"Even if I walked in front of a bus tomorrow and my life flashed before my eyes, I think I'd probably see the last five years," she added.
In an October 2025 interview with NPR, Carlile also shared what she learned about aging and said life taught her that "love isn't a feeling."
"I think age teaches you that love is an action. It's a — I don't want to say — I don't want to sound too dutiful or too eldest child, but that it's something that you do," she said. "It's a commitment to a certain kind of fidelity and honoring of someone else, even if that someone doesn't love you."
