Theron, 51, recently caught up with PEOPLE exclusively at the Veuve Clicquot Club Solaire VIP Opening in Venice Beach in Los Angeles.
During the conversation, she opened up about how her style has evolved.
āI think I used to wear more heels, and Iām more of a flat girl now, for sure,ā she tells PEOPLE. āI think Iāve always liked more masculine, kind of gender-neutral clothes.ā

āBut then I also like feminine stuff every once in a while,ā she continues. āI think Iām pretty diversified in my style, and I think I always kind of had that. But I think now, Iām leaning a little bit more into the masculine.ā
Theron, who is mom to daughters Jackson, 14, and August, 12, adds that her kids arenāt currently loving her current aesthetic.
āMy daughters are not too happy about that ⦠where mom is right now,ā she adds.
Theron has previously opened up about adopting a more laid-back style and beauty routine.
āAt my age now and my lifestyle and the fact that Iām pretty much an Uber driver for my kids, I canāt even imagine waking up in the morning and having to do anything other than wash [my hair] and just let it dry while Iām going about my day,ā she said while speaking to Voguein 2023.

In an interview with Harperās Bazaar the previous year, the star said that she also started to make a concerted effort to have more control over the clothes her characters wear onscreen, noting that the industry tends to over-sexualize female characters.
āHaving absolutely no control over what youāre wearing is a big one that really f---ing annoyed me for years,ā she said while speaking to the outlet.
āHaving some guy make you have a fitting almost in front of them ā stuff like that, itās really belittling,ā Theron continued. āWhen I started, there was no conversation around it. It was like, āThis is what youāre wearing.ā ā
However, the Dior ambassador definitely has an appreciation for fashion and revealed that sheās saved a number of her signature pieces for her daughters to wear when they are older.
āWe have a pretty good stockpile in the basement that they always talk about,ā she says. āMy daughter had something to go to and it was an all-white [event], and she was rummaging through the boxes. And I was like, āNo, no, no. This is not for now. For later.ā ā
Another occasion her kids are dressing up for? Halloween. But for Theron, the holiday is more casual these days.

āIām not a big Halloween person, but you become [one] when you have kids,ā she tells PEOPLE at the Veuve Clicquot event. āThey absolutely love it. But now, theyāre at an age where they donāt really want me to be a part of it, so itās kind of perfect. They want to go do their own thing. And I get to go home and watch a TV show. Itās perfect.ā
