Clemson women's coach makes pitch for bubble Tigers to be in NCAA Tournament
Clemson Tigers head coach Shawn Poppie is standing firm in his belief that Clemson deserves to be in the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
"One hundred percent. We're an NCAA Tournament team," Poppie said during a pre-ACC tournament coaches call."We go to Notre Dame and beat Notre Dame, who upsets Louisville on the road [on March 1]. You got an NC State win under your belt, Duke a week ago. Eleven wins in this league, 20 overall. I think this team is no doubt an NCAA Tournament team and one that could make some noise in the right matchups."

In USA TODAY'S latest women's basketball bracketology, Clemson is a bubble team that is still looking to get an NCAA tournament bid. How they play in this week's ACC tournament could impact whether or not they get an invite to the Big Dance. Poppie is seemingly aware of what's at stake.
"For us, we're focusing on [Virginia]. The more you can add to your resume, the easier it is to put you in there," Poppie said. "But as you look around, the grand scheme, I think there's no doubt this team's an NCAA Tournament team."
