Alix Earle, who competed on the most recent season of *Dancing With the Stars*, has revealed that she had a lot more than dance scores on her mind in the final months of the year.
Her mother, Alisa, was diagnosed with cancer about halfway through season 34, she wrote Sunday on social media.
Earle, who danced with Val Chmerkovskiy and was the season's runner-up, shared a video that showed Alisa in a hospital bed, with a voiceover that said, "Strong women never give up. We might need a coffee. We might need a good cry. We might need a day in bed. But we will always come back stronger."
The video showed Alix playing with her mom's hair and watching sports with her and Alix's sister, Ashtin.
She captioned it, "Go momma! So proud and inspired by you no challenge you can't face and come back stronger .. I love you!" She used the hashtag #breastcancerawareness.

As the season came to a close, the influencer said that it had been a difficult time for her, but she didn't provide details.
"There was just a lot that happened in my personal life throughout the season that I am happy — I think — that I didn't share for television, which I thought about at times," Earle said, per PEOPLE. "But I didn't want to just say things for the sake of making a really entertaining package and putting these stories in other people's hands. So I am proud of myself for that."
