Heading into his third season with the Washington Huskies, junior quarterback Demond Williams Jr. is going to be under more of a microscope than ever before. Along with his brief flirtation with the transfer portal and Jedd Fisch's calls for the former four-star recruit to step up in big moments as UW looks to improve on a 9-4 2025 campaign, he's now eligible for the NFL draft.
In what is widely considered to be one of the most talented classes in recent years, Williams, who completed 69.5 percent of his passes for 3,065 yards and 25 touchdowns with 8 interceptions in his first full season as a starter, while adding 611 yards and 6 scores on the ground, has found himself among its top prospects early in the cycle.
On an episode of the NFL Stock Exchange podcast, NBC Sports analyst Connor Rogers ranked Williams as the No. 9 draft-eligible quarterback in the 2027 class, as he looks to further assert himself among the nation's best signal callers this fall.

"This guy is every definition of a dual-threat playmaker," Rogers said. "He plays and does things in a manner that can remind you of (2019 No. 1 overall pick) Kyler Murray at times. Maybe it's not that caliber...But with this guy, he's got enough arm strength. You notice it on the deep ball, specifically, I've watched him throw 50 yards in the air, opposite hash, down the sideline. He can push the ball down the field."
However, even with his impressive arm talent and elite athleticism, that doesn't mean that questions won't be raised with Williams throughout the evaluation process, with his listed 5-foot-10 height being the biggest.
"I'm not convinced he sees the middle of the field very well," Rogers continued. "He'll force throws, he'll miss zone-dropping defenders roaming in the middle of the field, and that is just always the number one thing that will come up when people go, 'Ok he's short, but how does it affect his game?'"
If Williams can show improvement throwing over the middle with anticipation, combined with his electric ability as a playmaker with the ball in his hands, he could wind up rising on boards throughout the season.
