Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge will feature Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and other iconic characters from the original trilogy starting April 29

On Wednesday, Disney shared a first official look at the Han Solo who will be roaming the land and drew some mixed reactions online

The Galaxy's Edge timeline will now include storylines from multiple Star Wars eras and the original trilogy's iconic score by John Williams

Some fan-favorite Star Wars characters are flying into Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge, but a first look at the familiar faces is drawing a mixed reaction online.

On Wednesday, April 15, the official Star Wars and Disney Parks social media accounts shared their first official glimpse of the new walk around characters making their debut later this month.

In the clip, fans meet face-to-face with the captain of the Millennium Falcon himself, Han Solo. The actor portraying the reckless smuggler then walks around the land before finding his Wookiee sidekick Chewbacca.

“Han Solo and more beginning April 29,” the onscreen captions reads at the end of the teaser.

The clip has sparked some mixed reactions from fans, with some sharing their excitement to witness the original heroes in real life.

“If we get Han interacting with Luke [Skywalker] at ALL, I might genuinely cry tears of joy,” writes one commenter. “I miss them."

Others felt the new Han didn't quite fit the part.

“Meh,” one X user writes in the comment section of Star Wars’ post. “He’s no Harrison Ford.”

“I’m sorry but that’s just some guy lol. They have similar issues with Star-Lord,” says another, referring to the Marvel meet and greet character found at Disney’s California Adventure.

Another user jokes: “Why is Gaston wearing Han Solo’s gear?” implying the actor resembles the villain from Beauty & the Beast.

Han Solo and Chewbacca will touch down in Galaxy’s Edge when the land officially expands its timeline and immersive experiences on April 29. Additional characters like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia will also make their debut.

When Galaxy’s Edge first opened in 2019, its backstory was set between Episode VIII The Last Jedi and Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. But the Star Wars land's updates will bring new storylines spanning multiple eras of the Black Spire Outpost on the planet of Batuu.

“These updates will enable you to experience the Galactic Civil War and New Republic, as well as the Age of the Resistance and First Order,” a Disney Parks Blog post announcing the changes says.

The new faces will join other characters previously found throughout Galaxy’s Edge like Ahsoka Tano and The Mandalorian and Grogu.
