Hold the phone! Drew Barrymore has an excellent idea for how to bring Casey Becker back to the Scream universe.

The actress, who played one of Ghostface’s very first victims in the original 1996 horror classic, shared her pitch during a conversation with fellow franchise star Laurie Metcalf on Monday’s episode of* The Drew Barrymore Show*.

Metcalf, whose character died in *Scream 2*, explained that she was surprised to return to the series in its latest installment.

“I couldn’t figure out how I could come back, but it’s so clever the way that they did it,” Metcalf said. To which Barrymore replied, “I wonder the same thing. People say, ‘Will you ever come back?’ And I say, ‘I’m not sure how.’”

It’s a valid question, given that Casey was stabbed in the heart, disemboweled, and hung at the beginning of the first *Scream*. While a present-day appearance in a future *Scream *sequel might be off the table, Barrymore thinks that there’s potential in taking a look back.

She later added, “Casey Becker, I think you could do an origin story for anything. And I think that’s how you go in there.”

A prequel focusing on how Becker became one of Ghostface’s first victims sounds like more than enough of a starting point to intrigue *Scream* fans. Although, it would likely require someone other than Barrymore to step into Casey’s shoes.

While discussing the character on her talk show, Barrymore explained that she took on the role of Casey because she really wanted to try her hand at playing a “nice girl” for a change. “I wanted a clean girl. You know those girls who look so clean?” she said. “I feel like I look like a dirty birdy. Like, you know deep down inside that I’m a sicko.”

Barrymore continued, “But then you look at those other girls and they’re like a Purel commercial. And so I was like, ‘I want the Purel commercial.’ A good girl. A nice girl.”

The host has revived Casey several times on her talk show over the years, once telling pal Ross Mathews that there’s a chance she could have survived her grievous injuries.

"It's funny. I've never thought of it this way, but I'm pretty sure a C-section is comparable to what happened to her," Barrymore said in 2023. "Like, literally. And I'm here! I'm fine! So, maybe Casey Becker will be okay."

She added, “With good writing, you can make anything happen."

Barrymore also donned Casey’s signature blonde bob in a 2020 *Drew Barrymore Show** *short that featured her rightfully ghosting Ghostface. In it, the actress can be seen happily walking down the street and ignoring the masked murderer’s calls and texts.
