George Strait is nothing short of extraordinary. A living country music legend, Strait, 73, has sold over 120 million records, holds the world record for the most number one singles spanning all charts and genres, and has even earned the nickname of the King of Country.

For all intents and purposes, Strait's life bears few similarities to most people, the result of his illustrious career, but there's one thing that even the King of Country has in common with the rest of us: hangovers.

Though they are few and far between, every now and then, Strait has a rough morning following a night out. And, he's got his own tried-and-true fix, but chances are it's one you've never heard before.

In an interview with the Daily Beast, Strait revealed that his personal hangover remedy isn't coffee, electrolytes or any other popular cure. And, what it is might surprise you.

"It's called menudo," said Strait. "It’s tripe soup. It's very, very tasty. When I happen to have the occasional hangover, which I try not to, if I can get some menudo that's what I get."

Menudo is a traditional Mexican soup long believed to help ease the aftereffects of a night out. It is typically made with tripe and a rich, spicy broth, and it's a staple across Texas and the Southwest. The combination of broth, natural electrolytes and protein makes it a go-to meal for anyone who may have overdone it the night before, including the King of Country.

Even though he has a foolproof hangover cure, Strait isn't much of a drinker. When asked about his drink of choice, he replied simply, "Water."

However, when Strait isn't drinking water, he's likely drinking Codigo Tequila. Strait founded the tequila company in 2016.

"I started going to Cabo San Lucas and spending more and more time there," he said. "Met some great friends there and they introduced me to this tequila that was never sold to the public. I drank a little bit of tequila, but, when I did, it would go into a shot. And I tried to get the taste out of my mouth as fast as I could with some lime and salt. [Codigo] was like a new thing for me. A drink that wasn’t like the typical tequila that I’ve ever tasted. It’s definitely my drink of choice now. That’s for sure.”

And for anyone wondering if a bowl of spicy soup could actually help after a long night? Well — if it’s good enough for George Strait, it might just be worth considering.
