Kate Middleton has repeated outfits for all of her public appearances since ex-Prince Andrew's arrest on Feb. 19

Stylist Liza Talbot told the Daily Mail that the royal's recycled clothing "signals continuity, responsibility and respect" amid turmoil for the royal family

Princess Kate's recent style statements echo the fashion rules the late Queen Elizabeth followed

Kate Middleton might be sending a secret message with her fashion following the arrest of the former Prince Andrew.

The Princess of Wales, 44, has made four appearances since the former Duke of York, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested on Feb. 19 on suspicion of misconduct in public office and recycled outfits each time.

Fashion stylist Lisa Talbot told the Daily Mail that Princess Kate's fashion repeats were a "very intentional" move as Andrew's arrest cast a shadow over the British royal family.

"Rewearing subtly communicates steadiness and humility. It signals continuity, responsibility and respect for the moment. In situations where public sensitivity is heightened, the most powerful style statement can often be restraint," the personal stylist said in a piece published on March 2.

"At times when the wider royal family is under scrutiny, clothing becomes less about fashion and more about message," she continued. "By choosing familiar pieces from her existing wardrobe, she removes any distraction and keeps the focus on her role and her work rather than what she's wearing."

Talbot's take on Princess Kate's recent rewears echoes the style ethos of the late Queen Elizabeth, who followed a strict fashion formula for public appearances in her later years. By wearing repeat items, Kate makes engagements about the substance, not style.

The Princess of Wales made her first public appearance after Andrew's arrest at the England vs. Ireland Six Nations Match in London on Feb. 21, where she bundled up in a long blue Alexander McQueen coat that she previously sported for the kickoff of the German state visit in December 2025 and on Christmas Day in 2023. Princess Kate attended the match as Patron of the Rugby Football Union and her coat coordinated with an essential accessory: a navy England Rugby scarf.

The next day, the Princess of Wales delivered a total princess moment when she arrived at the BAFTAs with Prince William in an ethereal Gucci gown.

Kate debuted the ombré mauve gown at the 100 Women in Finance's Philanthropic Initiatives' gala dinner in 2019, and its burgundy belt exactly matched William's blazer of the same shade on Feb. 22. It marked a rare matching moment for the royal couple, visually syncing them as a united front. The Princess of Wales also brought the bling by wearing Queen Elizabeth's Greville Chandelier earrings and Queen Mary's Diamond Choker bracelet.

The Prince and Princess of Wales stepped out together again to visit Powys, Wales, on Feb. 26 — sporting the national flower, daffodils — in a thoughtful tribute ahead of Wales' feast day, St. David's Day.

Princess Kate repeated a burgundy Alexander McQueen coat with heeled Gianvito Rossi boots for that outing, recycling a combination in what's become one of her go-to colors. She previously wore the coat and boots to the kickoff of the state visit from Qatar in December 2024, but she skipped the matching hat for the more informal away day.

The Princess of Wales again reached for a repeat in a video with Prince William that Kensington Palace released on March 1 to commemorate St. David's Day. Kate spoke Welsh for the first time in the new video, where she wore a red houndstooth dress by Alessandra Rich that she previously sported for the reopening of the V&A Museum in London in 2021.

The look's red hue connected to one of the colors of the Welsh flag in a possible flag dressing homage — another cue from Queen Elizabeth's fashion playbook.
