Meghan Markle’s Australia trip reportedly gave the royals a safer lane to accept her post-palace career. The Duchess of Sussex was said to be using the visit to turn her lifestyle brand into direct income, not to cause more family conflict. That mattered because the Sydney retreat placed price tags, wellness branding, and public access around her appearance.

As per a new claim, that business framing actually suited the royals better. The “Suits” alum was due to headline the “Her Best Life” retreat from April 17 to 19. Prince Harry’s presence in Australia also kept the visit in royal territory. However, the expert view was that the family would still prefer this route over another public airing of grievances.

Royals would prefer Meghan Markle making money out of Australia trip than tell-all, per expert

As per the Page Six report, King Charles’ former butler Grant Harrold said the setup made sense. He said, “I wasn’t surprised to hear about Meghan exploring this as a new way to generate income.” Harrold added that people paid “a lot of money” for these retreats. With Meghan Markle as “the face of the event,” he said, they were “sure to generate a decent profit.” The event’s pricing backed that up. Standard tickets cost $2,699, while VIP access rose to $3,199.

Meanwhile, the same report said the retreat fit the Duchess’s public brand. Harrold said, “This does feel like a good fit.” He linked that to her “As Ever” brand, her earlier “The Tig” blog, and her canceled Netflix series “With Love, Meghan.” The Australia event also offered more than a stage talk. It included a gala dinner, therapy and wellness sessions, yoga, sound healing, meals, and a group photo with Meghan Markle for VIP guests. In that sense, the trip looked commercial, but tightly branded.

Then came the more revealing royal calculation. Harrold told Page Six, “I don’t think the King or other members of the Royal Family will take issue with this at all.” He added, “I’m sure they would much rather Meghan made money from this than a tell-all book or yet another TV interview.” He also said Prince Harry likely discussed the plan with his father first. Finally, he tied it to a wider shift. With Prince William pushing for a smaller monarchy, extended royals would need other ways to earn money.
