The 2026 NFL Scouting Combine is in the books, the league's 32 teams will now shift their collective focus to the next major event on the NFL's offseason calendar.
Free agency is set to officially begin when the NFL's new league year begins at 4 p.m. ET on March 11. The league's tampering window will open 52 hours earlier, giving teams a chance to negotiate with top free agents as each club looks to build out its roster for 2026.
Of course, teams also have to make sure they are compliant with the NFL's salary cap by the time the new league year begins. The NFL announced teams will have $301.2 million in cap space for 2026, but numerous squads will need to cut costs to get under that threshold.
Meanwhile, others will have a great deal of cap space available. No team entered March projected to have more than $100 million in cap space, but a handful of squads will have plenty of wiggle room as they look to shape their rosters into Super Bowl contenders.
Here's a look at the teams with the most and least cap space as 2026 NFL free agency draws nearer.

Week 1: Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa (18) makes a catch for a touchdown against the Green Bay Packers during the fourth quarter at Lambeau Field. The play was originally ruled an incomplete pass, but the call was overturned. Despite TeSlaa's effort, the Packers won the game 27-13.
Which NFL team has the most cap space in 2026?
The Tennessee Titans have the most cap space for 2026 entering March, according to OverTheCap.com. The Titans will have $94.8 million in cap space, nearly $6 million more than the second-ranked Las Vegas Raiders.

Seven teams have at least $50 million in cap space heading into 2026 free agency. That includes the reigning Super Bowl champion, the Seattle Seahawks ($59.5 million).
Which NFL team has the least cap space in 2026?
The Dallas Cowboys have the least cap space for 2026 as free agency arrives. They are projected to be a whopping $56.1 million over the cap as of March 2, per OverTheCap.com.
The Cowboys will need to reach compliance with the NFL's salary cap by the time the new league year begins. They can achieve this by releasing or trading players and by renegotiating contracts – via restructures or extensions – to create more cap space.
A total of 10 NFL teams entered March still over the 2026 salary cap.
