"It Ends with Us" and "Verity" author Colleen Hoover is opening up about her recent cancer diagnosis.
The bestselling author revealed her cancer battle publicly in an Instagram story on Monday, Jan. 12, noting her "second to last day of radiation." In the selfie photo, Hoover appears in a sweatshirt covered by a hospital gown, with a grimace and messy hair.
"I wish I could blame my hair and facial expressions on @Texas.Oncology, but they've been great. Hope you never need them, but highly recommend them," she added.
People reports Hoover first revealed the diagnosis on a private Facebook fan page in December. In the announcement, which was reshared on social media, she shared she had put off "recurring health issues" while filming her book-to-film adaptation "Reminders of Him." Upon returning from filming in Canada, she received her diagnosis.

She added her cancer had been "removed" and that she would need radiation, but "luckily" did not need chemotherapy. She has not specified the type of cancer.
USA TODAY has reached out to Hoover's rep for comment.
In October, the writer announced on Instagram that she would be missing several events, promoting her book-to-film adaptation "Regretting You," to have "an unavoidable surgery" that would force her not to be able to travel "for a while."

It has still been a busy time for the author. She just released her newest novel, "Woman Down," on Tuesday, Jan. 13, which tells the seemingly meta story of an author who faces viral backlash over a movie adaptation of her book, a la "It Ends with Us."
Colleen Hoover's new novel about an embattled author comes after her own controversy
Her latest novel comes after several other film adaptations in various stages of development: "Regretting You" hit theaters in October, "Reminders of Him" is set for release in March and "Verity" is also set to be adapted for the big screen, the latter to star Anne Hathaway.
