Nearly a thousand people gathered at the Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico’s visit in Corpus Christi Oct. 24.
Talarico addressed hundreds inside the museum, and hundreds listening from outside, just 10 days before Election Day.
The former public school teacher spoke about what he described as current political corruption, corporate money being involved in elections, grassroots organizing and his connection to the Coastal Bend.

After Talarico and other Democratic candidates spoke at the museum, Talarico made a brief, surprise appearance at the 19th annual Día de los Muertos Festival during local musician Dusty "El Dusty" Oliveira's set.

During his speech at the museum, Talarico used the biblical story about David and Goliath as an analogy for his campaign — the former representing him and the latter representing corporate PACs and tech mogul Elon Musk.
"David might not have been as strong or as big as Goliath," Talarico said. "He might not have had as many weapons, but he had hope. He had faith, and he had a slingshot. Corpus Christi, you are my slingshot. And when we come together, those Goliaths are going to know what hit them."
