Janai Norman said her final *Good Morning America** *before she even knew it.

The weekend anchor, who served as a co-anchor on the ABC daytime show since 2022, confirmed that she had exited the series in a video message posted to her Instagram page on Saturday.

"I'd hoped that we'd have more time," Norman began in the video for her followers, "and it's been hard on me that our time was cut short. I have loved my job. It has been a joy to connect with my co-workers and with viewers to help keep you informed and entertained and to create this community."

"So it really breaks my heart that I don't get to say goodbye," she continued. "I'm so sorry that I don't get to say goodbye. It would have been fun."

Norman continued by looking to the situation's silver lining, adding that she can now use her weekends to spend time with her family. "I have these three young kids, and I have worked weekends their whole lives, and so now they get more of me, and that is worth everything," she reasoned. "So stay tuned. I'm sorry. I feel you and thank you to every single one of you who has reached out with such kind and validating words, I have needed it, and I appreciate it."

In the post's caption, she wrote: "I've read every message. And am deeply grateful for the love. More to come when the time is right."

The confirmation from Norman was posted after newsletter Status broke the news Thursday that the anchor's contract had expired and would not be renewed.

Norman joined *ABC News* as an intern in 2011 and helped launch the second hour of Saturday's *GMA* in 2019. Her co-anchors were Whit Johnson and Gio Benitez, alongside meteorologist Somara Theodore.

Her departure comes as ABC News continues to adjust its morning programming lineup. The network restructured the *GMA3* spinoff hour last year, folding it into the main program with a rotation of hosts including Lara Spencer, Sam Champion, and Benitez.

Fans have already begun lamenting Norman's exit on social media.

"This one hurts," one wrote on X. "@janai wasn't just great at delivering the news — she brought personality, humor, and comfort in a way that's so rare. She made me smile even on my worst days. She'll be missed more than she knows!"

Another X user was in disbelief, noting that Norman is "smart, funny, serious, and everything you want for a morning show anchor."

Kenneth Moton, who co-anchored *World News Now* and *America This Morning* with Norman, chose to take the opportunity to encourage his former coworker to embrace whatever comes next.

"CONGRATULATIONS!" Moton wrote on X. "Proud of you @janai. [Love] the work you put in. And what you accomplished. You survived. You thrived. Can't wait for this next chapter...because it's going to be... [fire emoji]."
