Jeff Jarrett is set to make his CMLL in-ring debut against Blue Panther at the promotionās 93rd Anniversary Show, but the AEW veteran may have bigger plans in Mexico. A new report suggests Fridayās match could be the first chapter rather than the whole story.
Jarrett is currently being presented for the Arena MƩxico event as a one-night attraction. However, Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Jarrett is interested in turning the opportunity into a longer arrangement while remaining under contract with AEW.
The idea would not involve Jarrett working in Mexico every week. Instead, the 59-year-old WWE Hall of Famer reportedly wants to make occasional appearances, develop programs, and eventually work toward larger matches.
Jeff Jarrett reportedly wants a semi-regular CMLL run
Meltzer explained that Jarrett is hoping to avoid a simple one-and-done appearance.
āWhat I can say, and I donāt know if this is going to transpire, but I do know for a fact that Jeff Jarrett is very interested in actually not doing a one-and-done,ā Meltzer said.
He added that Jarrett wants to become a āsemi-regular from AEWā who can work programs and build toward bigger matches.

Meltzer compared the proposed arrangement to Johnny TVās CMLL run, although Jarrett apparently hopes to take things further. āSimilar probably to what Johnny TV did, except bigger. At least thatās his hope. May not happen.ā
Jarrett already has some recent experience working alongside CMLL talent. At AEWās Grand Slam: Mexico on Aug. 5, he teamed with Brillante Jr., Mascara Dorada, Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong in a dark match victory over Nick Wayne, The Dogs and The Swirl.
The CMLL match also isnāt Jarrettās first major connection to lucha libre. He previously worked with AAA, where he had multiple stints and won the AAA Mega Championship twice.
For now, Jarrettās immediate focus is Blue Panther at the 93rd Anniversary Show. Whether that bell rings once or starts a longer CMLL chapter remains to be seen.
