Paul Anthony Kelly is finally reacting to the online buzz linking him to the cape and cowl. Kelly recently drew attention for playing John F. Kennedy Jr. in a new project, and has responded to growing fan-casting chatter about him possibly becoming Batman in The Brave and the Bold. The actor’s answer is already fueling more speculation.
Actor playing JFK Jr said this on being fan-casted as Batman
Kelly responded to the buzz during an interview with GQ after online chatter linked him to the Dark Knight in James Gunn’s DC Universe. Instead of brushing it off, the actor leaned into the idea. He said if people are talking, he is not about to say no, calling the potential role a dream opportunity and clearly acknowledging the fan hype. “If that’s what they say, then who am I to say no? I mean, that would be a dream come true.”
The speculation first picked up steam earlier this year, when gossip outlet Deuxmoi reported that he was “apparently being considered for a certain DC role.” Since then, the rumor mill has only gotten louder. So far, neither Gunn nor DC Studios has officially confirmed or denied any Batman casting plans involving Kelly (via Screenrant).

The Brave and the Bold has been in the works since January 2023 as part of DCU Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters.” Andy Muschietti is still attached to direct, while Christina Hodson is reportedly handling the script. The reboot is expected to center on an already established Batman and dig into Bruce Wayne’s complicated bond with his son, Damian Wayne. However, James Gunn has suggested the story is still evolving behind the scenes.
Kelly is not the only name fans have been tossing around. Online chatter has also spotlighted Alan Ritchson, Jensen Ackles, Brandon Sklenar, and Jonathan Bailey as possible contenders. At the same time, DC Studios is still shaping its wider slate. Separately, Matt Reeves continues to expand his standalone Batman universe, which stars Robert Pattinson and operates independently from the main DCU timeline.
