JoJo Siwa shared the unexpected way golf has strengthened her relationship with her dad, Tom Siwa.
JoJo, 22, recently caught up with PEOPLE exclusively at The Snappys, Snapchat’s creator awards show, in Santa Monica, Calif.
“It’s interesting. I feel like a lot of times, people expect child stars and their parents to kind of fall out over time, [but] my parents and I, we've only gotten closer,” she said.
She added, “I've recently taken up golf, which has brought me very close to my dad."

“I've found a lot of fun golfing with him and it's been really special because, obviously, my mom and I are so close, you know, she, she is my other half … I shouldn't say she's my other half because technically [my boyfriend] Chris [Hughes] would be my other half, but my mom is my right-hand man throughout everything in my life. And so now to have golfing with my dad's been lovely,” she continued.

“There's no right way to inspire anyone to make a relationship work at all. It just, it works when it works. And trust me, it doesn't work when it doesn't work,” JoJo added.
When asked if her older brother’s recent wedding gave her “wedding fever,” the performer revealed that she and Hughes are taking things in stride.
“I mean, obviously our relationship's very new. My brother's been with his girlfriend — or wife now — [for] five years. So, you know, we're, we're creeping up on our one year anniversary. So we're getting there, but we got time,” JoJo said.
