The 83-year-old comedian missed Thursday’s live broadcast, while Sunny Hostin revealed her ordeal on-air.
Hostin made a rare appearance in the moderator chair, as Whoopi Goldberg was also absent.

The 83-year-old’s absence led to a rare appearance by legal expert and fellow cohost Sunny Hostin in the moderator chair typically occupied by Whoopi Goldberg, who’s off filming a movie, and Behar.
“This is a great audience, thank you! Hello, and welcome to The View,” Hostin, 57, said at the top of the show. “So, Whoopi is still out filming a movie. And, unfortunately, our dear friend Joy dislocated her shoulder.”

She continued, telling the studio audience, who gasped at the news, that Behar is “recovering and will be back soon.”
Hostin also joked about sitting in the moderator seat, telling viewers, “The two OGs are out today, so, apparently the job went to the next oldest — or, let’s say, seasoned — cohost. I like seasoned better!”

Before kicking off the day’s Hot Topics discussions, the former federal prosecutor welcomed former View cohost Sherri Shepherd back to the show as a guest cohost. Shepherd’s return was previously announced as part of Goldberg’s pre-planned absence.
