Juliette Lewis is embracing her past by selling her mugshot as merchandise.
The Yellowjackets actress, 52, collaborated with fashion brand Wildfang on a clothing collection that includes a T-shirt featuring a print of her teenage self after she was handcuffed by police. During a Thursday, April 9, stop on The Drew Barrymore Show, Lewis said the backstory behind the photo is quite "innocent."
"Is this a real mugshot?" asked host Drew Barrymore.
"Yes, this is a mugshot because we all have a past," Lewis said. "All I did was try to go dancing, but the club did not have its liquor license, so the cops busted the club."
Lewis claimed that law enforcement promised to let anyone under the age of 18 go free, but that wasn't the case.
"They didn't let us go, so we get handcuffed in the backseat of a car," Lewis recalled. "I was living on my own at the time, paying rent, paying taxes, and I was quite precocious with the cop. I was like, 'You mean, I can pay taxes, but I can't go dancing?' He kinda rolled his eyes at me."

She later revealed that her dad blew up a copy of her mugshot. Now, in a full-circle moment, she's making the T-shirts to "fund" her "rock and roll career."

Despite making her fame as a star on the big and small screens, Lewis forayed into music in the early aughts, releasing two albums as a member of Juliette and the Licks in 2005 and 2006. She also released an album as a solo artist in 2009. Lewis will make her Broadway debut in The Rocky Horror Show on April 23.

In an interview with Forbes, Wildfang CEO Emma Mcilroy and creative director Taralyn Thuot revealed how committed Lewis was to having her mugshot depicted in the collection.

"Juliette made massive design decisions and directed the design from concept through the entire thing," Mcilroy said. "She had her hands on it, from the very first meeting where we said, 'Here's who Wildfang is, and here's what we're all about.' And she was like, ‘Oh my God, we have to use my mugshot.’ And we were like, 'What? You have a mugshot?' ”
This isn't even the first time Lewis' mugshot has been printed on a T-shirt. In December 2015, she showed off a black shirt with the image printed on it.
"Is it wrong to wear my own mugshot shirt?" Lewis joked on Instagram at the time. "That's ok I don't wanna be right! Lol."
