- Lady Gaga released a statement through her Haus Labs makeup brand, apologizing to beauty influencer Golloria.
- Golloria previously made a video calling out one of the line’s new products for a non-inclusive shade range, though Haus Labs asked her to remove it as the product was under an embargo.
- “I truly apologize to Golloria,” Gaga said in the statement, with the brand adding that it paused the launch and added five more inclusive shades following Golloria’s “powerful voice.”
Lady Gaga has apologized to social media star Golloria following a clash the pop icon’s beauty brand Haus Labs had with the beauty influencer over a new product.
Golloria — a longtime supporter of Haus Labs for its typically inclusive shade range suitable for a variety of skin tones — previously shared a video criticizing the brand’s upcoming Sun Dipped Bronzing Veil product for launching with only six shades. The influencer later said that Haus Labs reached out and asked for the post to be removed, which Gaga’s statement confirmed — “on the technicality that she was under embargo,” as the product hadn’t yet hit stores.
On Thursday, Gaga’s statement acknowledged that the product launch was halted so the brand could internalize Golloria’s “powerful voice” and make alterations, including adding five new shades to the launch, bringing its total range to 11 shades.

Gaga said in her statement that Golloria rightfully “called out that the shade range wasn’t inclusive,” and said it “was also clear that the way the company initially handed that feedback was wrong. We want to take full responsibility for our mistakes.”
The Grammy winner called the decision to launch the product with only six shades “the wrong decision,” and brought up the aforementioned outreach to Golloria on the embargo.
“This was unkind and not at all how a creator — or any customer’s voice — should ever be treated,” Gaga wrote. “We took both of these failures extremely seriously, and took steps to make change. Thanks to her powerful voice, we decided to pause the launch and go back to the lab to ensure we had a truly inclusive shade range from Day 1. We also had important internal conversations to reflect on where we went wrong to prevent this from occurring again in the future.”

Gaga then spoke directly to Golloria, writing, “I truly apologize to Golloria and the community for where we fell short. You were 100% right. We will work hard to make sure it never happens again. Personally, I will see to it.”
The 40-year-old Oscar- winning musician then pointed out the “beautiful options we developed for every skin tone” for the relaunch of the product.
“We love you, and we are sorry. We hope you can see in these new shades that we took your feedback incredibly seriously — and that we truly care,” Gaga finished.

Golloria rose to digital prominence through a series of videos in which she calls out major cosmetics brands for a lack of inclusivity in their products. Her clips often go viral, and have led to significant change in the beauty industry, with several brands reformulating their products following discourse inspired by Golloria.
The beauty influencer has long supported Haus Labs, with Golloria often citing the brand’s TriClone foundation as one of her favorites thanks to its wear and its large range that includes more than 50 shades.
