Silo season 3 will feature a split-timeline exploring both the present day and the pre-apocalyptic “before times”
New cast members include Ashley Zukerman as Congressman Daniel Keene and Jessica Henwick as journalist Helen Drew
Apple TV confirmed the series will end with season 4 to fully adapt Hugh Howey’s trilogy
Warning: Spoilers ahead for Silo season 2 and 3!
Unlike the first two installments, Silo season 3 features a split-timeline narrative that introduces a host of new characters and delves into the mystery of the silo's origins. While Silo seasons 1 and 2 were based on Hugh Howey's first novel, Wool, the new batch of Apple TV episodes is inspired by his second book, Shift. The prequel novel explores the “before times” and the construction of an underground world.Season 2 ended with an intense confrontation between Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) and Bernard Holland (Tim Robbins). After Juliette returned to Silo 18, she and Bernard ended up trapped in the airlock chamber as a cleansing fire engulfs the enclosed space.
However, that wasn’t the only twist. The season 2 finale also gave viewers a glimpse of the “before times." In the episode's last moments, the show jumps back more than 350 years to a pre-apocalyptic world where Daniel Keene (Ashley Zukerman), a congressman, meets up with a reporter named Helen (Jessica Henwick) for what appears to be a date.According to the Apple TV official press release, the third season of Silo will follow a parallel timeline structure, splitting the narrative between the present day and the “before times.” In the present day, Juliette is recovering from her forced “cleaning,” while simultaneously dealing with memory loss as the silo faces new threats. The “before times” narrative, on the other hand, revolves around Daniel and Helen as they “uncover a conspiracy that pulls them into a chain of events with catastrophic, irreversible consequences.” Along with Zukerman and Henwick, the “before times” storyline is expected to bring in several new cast members. Here’s everything to know about the new characters in Silo season 3, which premiered on Apple TV on July 3.

Successionstar Zukerman is set to portray Daniel, a pivotal character in the third season of Silo. Notably, Daniel is called Donald in the Silo books.
Described as a “young and hungry” politician, Daniel is a freshman congressman representing the 15th district of Georgia.
At the end of season 2, Daniel is on a date with Helen, a journalist who seems to be looking into a government cover-up and using their date to gather information. She grills him with tough questions, but instead of answering her, Daniel abruptly leaves. Before he does, however, he gives Helen a small gift: A PEZ dispenser with a yellow duck on top, the same one previously gifted to Juliette in season 1.
Speaking to TIME in January 2025, show creator Graham Yost explains that season 3 will tackle a number of lingering questions, including “the origin story” of the novelty PEZ dispenser, which is significant in both timelines.

Henwick joins Zukerman as a key character in the “before times” storyline for season 3.
The actress, who appeared in The Gray Man, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mysteryand How To Make a Killing, portrays Helen in the sci-fi series.
Helen, described as “a whip-smart reporter,” is a journalist who works for a major publication in Washington D.C.
Although her date with Daniel didn’t end well in the season 2 finale, Helen will play a pivotal role in the series.
“It's about a third of the season of what we call the ‘Daniel and Helen’ story and following them,” Yost told Space.comin January 2025.
According to Apple TV’s official press release, the pair will work together to uncover a massive government conspiracy regarding the creation of the silos.

While limited details about her character have been revealed, her role in season 3 is clear based on the season 3 trailer and photos.
Charlotte, an important character in Howey’s novel, is Daniel’s sister and a former naval officer.
In both the trailer and first look images for season 3, Findlay is shown wearing a distinctive G-1 military flight jacket, a style historically used by Naval Aviators in the Navy and Marine Corps.
Similarly, she’s wearing a baseball cap with what looks like an aviation-themed patch.

Veteran actress and ER alum Laura Innes will also join the cast for season 3 of Silo.
Although her specific role in the series hasn't been shared, there are clues that she may portray Senator Thurman, one of the principal architects behind the creation of the silos.
In the book, the Senator is a man — Paul Thurman — but Yost previously confirmed that the show makes significant deviations from the source material.
Regarding the Senator, specifically, he explained that they opted to make the character a woman to further explore the dynamics between her and congressman Daniel.
“We wanted to make more out of their relationship than was really in the book, so we’ve also gender-swapped Thurman,” he told TheWrapin January 2025.

Colin Hanks joins the cast of Silo in a recurring role.
He is featured in the season 3 trailer telling Daniel, “The end of the world cannot be stopped. It can only be survived.”
