A mistaken TV segment sent shockwaves across social media, leaving fans worried about Michael J. Fox. The confusion didn’t last long, but the actor’s response quickly became the highlight of the moment.

The panic started when CNN mistakenly aired a tribute-style video that looked like a memorial. The segment, titled as if looking back on Fox’s life, made viewers think the beloved actor had passed away. The network reportedly later admitted the clip was uploaded by mistake and removed it, issuing an apology to Fox and his family (via Entertainment Weekly).

Fox, 64, didn’t stay silent. Instead, he addressed the situation with humor. Sharing his reaction on Threads, he joked about flipping channels, testing if he was still alive, and even calling his wife for reassurance. He ended his message with a blunt but funny “WTF?” while confirming he’s fine. “I thought the world was ending, but apparently it’s just me, and I’m ok. Love, Mike,” Fox said.

The video itself wasn’t entirely off-base in content. It revisited Fox’s iconic roles, including Marty McFly in Back to the Future and his TV success in Family Ties and Spin City. It also highlighted his long battle with Parkinson’s disease, which he was diagnosed with in 1991 and publicly revealed in 1998.

The tribute emphasized how Fox stepped back from acting in 2000 as symptoms progressed. It also praised his advocacy work, noting his efforts in raising awareness and supporting research. In 2022, his contributions were recognized with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, underlining his impact beyond entertainment.

Fans, meanwhile, had intense reactions before the truth came out. Some said the clip “hit hard,” especially those dealing with Parkinson’s in their own lives. Others admitted they were shocked and emotional, thinking they had lost a major part of their childhood.

Despite working less these days, Fox still appears on screen occasionally. He recently showed up in the Apple TV+ series Shrinking, playing a character also dealing with Parkinson’s, opposite Harrison Ford. For many, that’s a reminder that Fox is still very much present and still inspiring.
