The longtime couple also reflected on the family they've built together over their more than two decades of marriage
Their sweet tributes offered another glimpse into the lasting bond they've shared since saying "I do" in 2004
Mira Sorvino and Christopher Backus are going strong after 22 years of marriage.
The Academy Award-winning actress celebrated the couple's anniversary on July 2 with a heartfelt tribute that put their enduring romance front and center. Her sweet message was filled with love, gratitude and excitement for the years still to come.
“Happiest of 22nd anniversary to my beautiful, wonderful @christopherbackus my best friend, my soul mate, my partner in crime, my artistic inspirer, my phenomenal baby daddy,” Sorvino, 58, wrote in an Instagram post. “I love you so much Chris, I can’t wait to see what deeper and deeper joys await us ♾️ !!”
Backus didn't let the moment pass without sharing a loving message of his own.
In the comments, the 44-year-old responded with: “I’m the luckiest guy in the world!!! I love you with all my heart my beautiful wonderful artistic soulful angelic wife.”
The couple has been married since 2004, first exchanging vows in a Santa Barbara courthouse before celebrating with a second wedding in Capri, Italy, the following month.
Over the years, they've built a family together, welcoming four children: Mattea, Johnny, Holden and Lucia. They even returned to the same spot in Capri years later to renew their vows, this time with their children by their side.

As their family has grown, so has their partnership.
Along with raising their four kids, Sorvino and Backus have supported each other's careers and have also worked together behind the scenes as producing partners, most recently executive producing Daft State, which stars Backus.

In a Mother's Day tribute shared in 2021, Backus celebrated Sorvino's role as a mom with a heartfelt message that highlighted the joy she brings to their home, writing, “Happy Mother’s Day to the best mom and wife a man could ask for. She fills our lives with boundless love, affection, cuteness, adventures and bravery. So lucky are we to have you in our lives.”
Sorvino has been equally open about how much her husband and children mean to her.
After experiencing pregnancy complications and a difficult delivery with their son Holden, she spoke about the unwavering support Backus provided during that challenging time.
Reflecting on what matters most, she told PEOPLE in a 2009 interview: “Because of my husband and my children, I feel like the luckiest woman in the world, and I just want to cherish every minute we have together.”
