Karoline Leavitt discussed the secret to motherhood as she returned to her duties as White House Press Secretary after her maternity leave.

On July 16, Fox News halted its regular programming and live-streamed Leavitt's first press briefing since leaving for her maternity leave. The White House Press Secretary gave birth to her baby girl, Viviana, at the beginning of May. She is also the mother of a young son, Nicholas. While answering questions from journalists in the room, a reporter asked, "For your first day back, as the mother of two, what is your secret to women who want to have it all?"

Leavitt revealed it actually "takes a village" to "have it all." This came after the White House Press Secretary announced her return to the podium after taking maternity leave in late April.

Leavitt said, "Thanks for the question. It is great to be back with all of you; I don't think there is a secret. It's tough to show up every day and keep going.

"And it really takes a village to take the opportunity — shoutout to my husband who's at home with our children. I look forward to returning home later to be with them. But it is challenging.

"For me, I view this not as a job. I view this as public service," Leavitt concluded. "There's. nothing better than being a mother."

The press secretary is married to Nicholas Riccio, a real estate investor from New Hampshire. The couple tied the knot in January 2025.

On July 16, Karoline posted on X, "I will be back at the podium today at 1PM. Tune in!"

Unfortunately, the press briefing was delayed for several minutes due to "technical difficulties," with the flat-screen TVs on black, according to Fox News.

Leavitt held her press briefing ahead of President Donald Trump's scheduled primetime speech with the nation on the same day. President Trump, 80, is expected to talk about the current war against Iran.

Trump wrote on Truth Social, "President Trump will be making a speech to the nation on Thursday evening, 9 p.m. eastern. Thank you for your attention to the matter."

Leavitt officially went on maternity leave on April 24. However, she paused her time off to hold a final briefing on April 27 to address the alleged shooting that occurred during the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

During her time away from the podium, Karoline's post as press secretary was temporarily filled by a rotating group of Trump administration officials, including Vice President JD Vance, 41, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, 55, and United States Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, 63.
