Minnesota Vikings general manager Nolan Teasley has had a busy week. The Vikings had to cut down to 53 players on Sunday night, but then made a plethora of notable moves that shook up both the active roster and practice squad over the next two days.

On Wednesday, he met with the media following the roster overhaul. He answered questions about J.J. McCarthy and new free-agent addition Kyle Van Noy.

Teasley was also asked what he had learned about Kevin O'Connell since being hired in early June. The general manager, who has a history with O'Connell, heaped praise upon the coach.

[O'Connell is] highly intelligent, a great football mind, a big-picture thinker as a head coach, which I think is really important," Teasley answered. "And it's just been really seamless and really easy for us to stay on the same page and communicate daily about every aspect of our football operation.

"I'm really happy with where that relationship is and excited to continue to work with him."

This is a pivotal year for O'Connell, who has gone 43-25 in four seasons but has yet to win a playoff game. The hope is that Teasley can build a stronger roster than Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, who served as GM during the first four years of O'Connell's tenure.

If Teasley can help construct a stronger top-to-bottom roster, that could bring out an even better version of O'Connell when the games count. Right now, though, the head coach-general manager relationship is working out.
