Fans of a galaxy far, far away got a reality check here on Earth when* Star Wars* franchise actor Pedro Pascal surprised them on the ground at the Disneyland resort.

The star of the upcoming *Mandalorian and Grogu* film shocked guests at the California theme park over the weekend, when he went undercover in character as the Mandalorian — and gave fans the surprise of a lifetime when he was unmasked in front of them.

Video shared by the park (below) shows Pascal getting ready for the surprise moment, which took place inside the park's Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride inside the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge themed area, which will receive new ride-through storylines starring Din Djarin and Grogu in celebration of the Mandalorian and Grogu film that's set to hit theaters later this week.

Disney also shared video of fellow *Mandalorian and Grogu *star Sigourney Weaver, director Jon Favreau, and writer Dave Filoni watching a new Disneyland nighttime show, *The Curious Child*, alongside Pascal at the resort.

The Disney parks have a long history of welcoming live-action stars to their properties to promote big-screen projects, including a 2017 occurrence that saw Johnny Depp hide among audio-animatronic figures inside the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction while dressed as his *Pirates* movie character, Jack Sparrow.**

Both Disneyland and the Walt Disney World resort in Orlando boast Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge areas, which will both receive the *Mandalorian and Grogu-*themed alterations to their respective Smugglers Run rides.

According to Disney, the revamped edition of the interactive simulator rides includes "fresh gameplay moments, new interactions, and unexpected surprises along the way," while a "new interactive feature allows the engineer position [on the attraction] to check in on Grogu throughout the mission, and make the pivotal planet choice that charts the course."

The film picks up after the events of the popular *Mandalorian* Disney+ streaming series, which also stars Pascal across three seasons set inside the larger *Star Wars* universe.

The film follows Pascal as Djarin, who's courted by the New Republic to help rescue Rotta the Hutt — Jabba's son — who's played by *The Bear *star Jeremy Allen White. The character of Rotta previously appeared as a baby in the 2008 animated film *Star Wars: The Clone Wars.*

In addition to the aforementioned cast, famed director Martin Scorsese has a voice role in the film as an Ardennian shop owner.
