PepsiCo Foods owns more brands than you probably know. If you love crunching on Lay’s, tucking into a hot bowl of Quaker Oats, whipping up pancakes with a Pearl Milling Company mix, or downing Mountain Dew, surprise! You have PepsiCo Foods to thank.
For decades, the legacy brand has introduced hundreds, if not thousands, of innovative snacks and beverages, from Chimichurri Lime Doritos and Sweet Phantom Heat Cheeto Puffs to specialty Mug Root Beer Floats and sparkling waters.
And although nothing hits the spot quite like a bag of Lay’s Kettle Chips, PepsiCo Foods just announced a major change that has some shoppers second-guessing their spending habits. And to be frank, us, too.
PepsiCo Foods Set To Raise Prices on Chips, Soda, and More

According to the Financial Post, PepsiCo Foods has announced plans to raise prices on chips and other categories in its portfolio. A PepsiCo spokesperson who spoke with the Financial Post said the cost for certain chips is expected to increase by a “low-to-mid single-digit percentage aligned with inflation.”
In addition to chips, categories like dips and sodas are also expected to see price hikes. This move follows the company’s pledge earlier this year to reduce prices by up to 15 percent on some fan-favorite chip brands, including Doritos, Lay’s, Cheetos, and Tostitos.

While the company hasn’t specified which brands will be impacted, price changes could start rolling out as soon as the end of 2026.
It’s no surprise that fans aren’t happy about their soon-to-be more expensive chips. “A bag of chips is like $7. I find it hard to believe they need to raise prices because of inflation,” one shopper commented on NBC’s Instagram coverage of the issue. Another wrote, “At this point I’m just going to drink rain and eat snow.” One fan cheekily called the move the “nail in the coffin.”
Fans on Reddit had something to say, too. One shopper commented, “I just won’t buy it lol. It’s not a ‘need.’” Another echoed the sentiment, writing “RIP, PepsiCo.” Many others said they’re planning to or have already switched exclusively to store-brand products.
As much as we love a bag of Ruffles and a crisp can of 7Up, we also don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on them. So, this may be a good time to branch out and see what other snacks and drinks are out there.
