Authorities are sharing an update on Presley Gerber’s death.

The Santa Monica Police Department is investigating the model’s death as a suspected overdose, authorities announced on Monday morning.

“On September 20, 2026, at approximately 9:35 a.m., Santa Monica Police Department officers responded to a report of a possible overdose in the 1000 block of Berkeley Street,” the SMPD shared in a press release. “Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was deceased. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has identified the individual as Presley Gerber, 27.”

PEOPLE reported that officers responded to a call detailing a cardiac arrest, according to call records obtained by the outlet. Authorities said that there is no indication of foul play, and that the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death.

Gerber died at a rehabilitation facility on Sunday, Sept. 20, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records reviewed by EW. A representative for his family — which includes his mother Cindy Crawford, his father Rande Gerber, and his younger sister Kaia Gerber — told EW: “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”

Presley began his career as a model at 15, and was featured in campaigns for brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, and Dolce & Gabbana. However, he stepped back from his career amid mental health and addiction struggles, which he discussed candidly on social media.

In a since-deleted post from December 2025, Presley discussed his medication regimen and explained that he hoped to find more clarity in his medical journey, noting that he didn’t have “as much direction as I would like to have” in terms of his clinical care, adding, “I’m looking for a doctor that will help me taper, not just keep me on some stuff.”

He also said that he sought “a good community of people who can be good influences on me,” adding, “I have a feeling that if I say all of this, a lot of people will at least know that there’s someone else going through it.”
