With her orchestral new single “Berghain,” Rosalía is signaling a bold new direction ahead of her fourth studio album, “Lux,” due Nov. 7.

Contrary to her Grammy-winning “Motomami” album, her upcoming fourth studio LP is said to feature Rosalía singing in 13 different languages and is broken up into four movements; the physical versions of the LP will include 18 songs while digital versions will include 15.

Features include Björk, Spanish singer Silvia Pérez Cruz, Portuguese singer Carminho, Flamenco singer Estrella Morente, música mexicana singer-songwriter Yahritza, and Yves Tumor. The boys choir Escolania de Montserrat i Cor Cambra Palau de la Música Catalana are also listed as collaborators.

Rosalía sat down for her first in-depth interview since the release of “Berghain” on The New York Times’ “Popcast” podcast, where she opened up about recording “Lux” while simultaneously filming the upcoming season of HBO’s “Euphoria.”

“Everything I do is because I’m a fan,” she said of her choice in roles. “So you might think, ‘Oh, [‘Euphoria’] is a pop moment or whatever.’ To me, it’s like, ‘Oh, this is a new environment. This is a new thing. How can I do this and still be a good performer?’ Because being a performer on stage is very different than being a performer acting in a something like that — putting myself in service of [‘Euphoria’ creator] Sam [Levinson’s] vision.”

Rosalía says Levinson was “one of the first people that I wanted to play the album” for, adding that he “reacted in the in the most beautiful way… he was in tears, and that meant so much because I admire his vision so much.” Alexa Demie, who portrays Maddy in “Euphoria,” also heard the album and “had the same reaction.”

“And I was like, ‘Okay, this might mean I’m in the right path,'” Rosalía remembers thinking. “This might mean that maybe we’re doing what we are supposed to be doing.”

Elsewhere in their conversation, Rosalía confirmed she was filming her scenes for “Euphoria” while translating, re-writing and composing lyrics for her ambitious new record. Calling both endeavors a “challenge,” nearly broke down several times throughout the process.

“This is a lot and I was almost about to have a mental breakdown, or just a breakdown… but I was like, okay, ‘Rosalia, if somebody can do it, that’s you.’ I [would] repeat that to myself — ‘If somebody can do it, that’s you. Keep going, keep going, keep going.’ And then I just figured it out and didn’t forget the lines that often — thank God.”

Not much is known about “Euphoria” Season 3, other than it will release in spring 2026 and features lots of returning cast members and new faces, like Trisha Paytas, Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler and Eli Roth.
