“We’ve been best friends our whole lives, so she knows me better than anyone,” Carpenter said in a conversation with Marc Jacobs for Perfect Magazine

Sabrina Carpenter and her sister Sarah Carpenter are one and the same.
In a conversation with Marc Jacobs for her Perfect magazine cover story, published on Tuesday, April 7, the pop star, 26, opened up about taking control of her artistic vision and working closely with her older sister on projects.
“Everything you just said – the videos, the covers, the merch, the tour especially – it’s all something that clicked one day, and I just realised, ‘Oh my gosh, this is what makes it feel special and uniquely myself. It’s me running the show,’” Carpenter said. “It’s a lot more hats to wear and a lot more jobs to do, but it’s those little changes that if I was doing it with someone who was directing me on what to do, it wouldn’t feel so personal to me.”

"I work with my sister a lot,” the “Manchild” singer noted. "She has been my creative partner with pretty much everything I do. We kind of share a brain. She’s just got such an amazing creative eye. She’s a great photographer. She just has incredible taste."
She added, “We’ve been best friends our whole lives, so she knows me better than anyone.”
And while Carpenter loves working with other creatives, Sarah is the “consistent through-line for me.”

The sisters’ collaboration goes as far back as the Grammy-winning artist’s Disney days, as Sarah appeared on Sabrina’s hit Disney Channel series Girl Meets World. Sarah also sang backing vocals for her sister’s debut album Eyes Wide Open.
In a behind-the-scenes video on the making of the 2015 album, the sisters spoke on the joys of getting to work together. “We just clicked. We were really in sync,” Sarah said. “I just love being able to be here and be here for her and support her and just help her out whenever she needs it.”
On Sabrina’s rise to fame, Sarah added that she was proud of her little sister. “It’s been so crazy, her journey,” she said. “She just deserves it so much. It’s so great to finally see her on top of the world.”
Elsewhere in her cover story, Sabrina talked about her seven-month preparation for her headlining set at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 10 and 17.
"It’s the most ambitious show I’ve ever done," she revealed. "It’s probably the most time I’ve ever had to actually just sit down and talk about a show as I’m building it."
She continued, "Most of the time, you’re really quickly thrust into physical rehearsals, but this time around we started this process around seven months ago. So it’s been a long journey. It will be very special."
Sabrina, who first performed at Coachella in 2024, will headline the festival along with Justin Bieber, Karol G and Anyma.
