Brooke Shields and her husband Chris Henchy are marking their silver anniversary today!
In her 2005 memoir, Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression, Shields revealed she fell in love with Henchy the first time they met on the Warner Bros. lot back in 1999. The pair would run into each other one more time and though she was trying to take things slow following her divorce from Andre Agassi, the producer and screenwriter eventually swept her off her feet.
By 2000, the couple was engaged and they tied the knot on April 4, 2001, during a small ceremony held on Catalina Island in California and then again on May 26 in Palm Springs. The couple welcomed their first daughter, Rowan Francis on May 15, 2003 and rounded out their family with the addition of Grier Hammond whom they welcomed on April 18, 2006.
Asked what the secret to their long-lasting marriage is, Shields told PEOPLE in 2024, "I think you have to constantly make sure you discuss things rather than let them fester. And you have to be willing to adapt to the other person growing and changing.”
“Sometimes you don't grow and change at the same rate,” she continued, "And that can be really hard because what you initially fell in love with looks different. It doesn't mean it's bad, it just is different.”

Early Days

The beginnings of Shields and Henchy's love story read like a rom-com. The couple met on the Warner Bros. lot when he found her lost dog.
"To this day I believe that I fell in love with Chris the day we met, in 1999, but I would never tell him that!" she wrote in her memoir. "I had just gotten an American bulldog, Darla, and I brought her to meet friends of mine in the gym on the Warner Bros. lot. While there, the dog wandered off, and Chris brought her back. He was writing for a show filmed on the lot and loved dogs. We chatted and he made me laugh."
Some weeks later, the pair would run into each other again when Shields was hosting a show in Washington, D.C. and Henchy was the writer. "We started spending time together and became friends. I was struck by how thoughtful and funny he was," Shields wrote.
The rest is history.

So they’re all coming to our house,” Shields revealed on a July 4 episode of the Today show last year. “And what’s been interesting this time is that there's boyfriend situations, and there’s only so many beds. And it’s a discussion.”

In March 2025, Shields opened up about setting a good example for her daughters when it came to aging gracefully.
"I look at my two girls — everything's higher and tighter and smoother. And I know it's all appealing and it does sell, but I want my girls not to be terrified to be my age," Shields told Real Simple.
