Sia has commented on media coverage of the agreement that the singer and her estranged husband, Daniel Bernad, came to in court Monday.

"I see my settlement has been picked up by the press," she posted Tuesday on social media. "I'm a sober working mom trying to buy peace. I have primary custody of our son and since i am the only parent earning income i still have to pay California's incredibly high child support."

Under the terms, Sia agreed to pay Bernad $42,500 per month for their child. The filing does not specify who has primary custody of their son, Somersalt Wonder, who was born in March 2024. Sia, whose real name is Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, and Bernad said they would share legal and physical custody of their son.

The "Chandelier" artist added, "This has been a horrific year but it taught me how to navigate incredibly difficult situations, prioritize my family and not absorb other people’s negativity. 'To err is human, to forgive is divine.'"

Payments from the singer began this month and must be made until her child turns 18 or, if he's still attending high school, 19, according to PEOPLE. There are contingencies to the deal for circumstances such as emancipation or marriage.

The deal requires, too, that Sia keep a $5 million life insurance policy that names her son — nicknamed "Summi" — as her beneficiary or set up a trust for him in the event that she dies before he reaches adulthood.

Sia, whose real name is Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, and Bernad said they would share legal and physical custody of their son.

Somersalt is Sia's third child. She also adopted two 18-year-old boys in 2019, per PEOPLE.

The Grammy-nominated singer and Bernad have had a contentious breakup, after she filed for divorce in March 2025, two years after they married in Italy.

In October, Bernad petitioned for sole custody of their son, claiming that Sia is "an unfit and unreliable parent struggling with substance abuse and addiction." He also alleged that she is "incapable of providing safe or stable care."

Sia countered with her own legal filing, which accused her ex of engaging in "a nightlife and recreational drug-use lifestyle" and alleging he had been investigated "regarding illicit child pornography found on his computer hard drive," which her assistant and friend, Hayley Wood, said she found in Bernad's storage locker.

He then accused the music star of having "planted" incriminating evidence, insisting, "I had never even visited the storage unit that Sia and her employees acquired. I vehemently denied any involvement with this alleged contraband."

He also pointed to the fact that Los Angeles County's Department of Children and Family Services closed the case on Sept. 23, deeming the claims "unfounded" and "inconclusive."
