- Sydney Sweeney played Cassie on all three seasons of HBO's just-concluded drama series *Euphoria*.

- The actress spent a lot of time preparing for a pole-dancing scene that was ultimately cut.

- Sweeney said she's sad to say goodbye to the character.

Actress Sydney Sweeney did some very physical prep for the final season of HBO drama series *Euphoria* that audiences never had a chance to see.

"There were some really fun scenes between us when Cassie goes to the strip club with Maddy and they're doing the photoshoots," Sweeney, who played Cassie, told *Vanity Fair* of the character played by Alexa Demie. "Cassie starts to see the girls on stage, and she gets really excited. She's like, 'Wow, these girls are beautiful. I could do this.' She gets wasted and she goes up on the stage. She gets all dressed up and Cassie pole dances."

Sweeney, 28, took the scene seriously.

"I did lessons for pole dancing, and it was so much fun," she said. "Imagine crazy Cassie on a pole, which was hilarious. But man, these girls are strong."

The former star of *The White Lotus* explained that she'd been forewarned the scenes were cut from creator and showrunner Sam Levinson.

"Sam called me a couple days before the episode that the scenes were supposed to be in. He was like, 'Hey, it didn't make sense for the episode.' I was like, 'Totally get it,'" Sweeney said. "I definitely was disappointed. But he was like, 'Maybe we should release it as like behind-the-scenes footage or deleted scenes.' I was like, 'Please do, because I put a lot of hard work into that.'"

Sweeney said it was tough to part with the character she'd played over three seasons beginning in 2019.

"Every season, like Sam says, he's always shot it like it's the last," Sweeney noted. "And I think we've all approached it in the same mentality. So I've always said goodbye to Cassie on the last day, as bittersweet as it is, because she's such a challenging role and she stretches me as an actor. And I love being able to be challenged and to go to places that other characters may not go to. So it’s definitely a hard one, because she's so fun to play."

The cast of the nine-time Emmy winner — including one nomination for Sweeney as Cassie — also starred Zendaya, Maude Apatow, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, and the late Angus Cloud.

Sweeney made headlines recently after it was revealed that she appeared as herself in a scene that was cut from *The Devil Wears Prada 2*.

*The Housemaid* star played herself in a three-minute scene that featured Anne Hathaway's Andy, Stanley Tucci's Nigel, and Meryl Streep's Miranda arriving at the office of Emily Blunt's Emily, before asking her for help. Initially, the audience was supposed to see Emily working with Sweeney.

In April, EW learned that the scene hadn't fit in the sequence, and that the decision to make the edit was difficult, because the movie's team had been grateful for Sweeney's time and effort.

The final season of *Euphoria* is streaming on HBO Max.
