- Taylor Hanson got emotional on the *Dancing With the Stars* podcast when discussing his relationship with partner Britt Stewart.

- The pair were eliminated during Tuesday’s episode of the reality competition series.

- “I am so grateful that happened because she’s incredible,” the singer said.

Taylor Hanson has a lifelong friend in *Dancing With the Stars* partner Britt Stewart.

“Everybody’s so talented on the show. It’s insane. It’s crazy how talented these pros are, but I saw Britt and — I’m getting emotional now,” Hanson said during Thursday’s episode of the official *DWTS* podcast. “She has done what I’ve done, in a lot of ways, with dance for most her life. She’s thrown her heart at it, and that’s the thing most people avoid.”

Hanson said that before he went on the show, his family knew Stewart would be his perfect partner. Before season 35 started, Hanson “specifically” told the *DWTS* production team that he wanted to be paired with Stewart.

“I am so grateful that happened because she’s incredible,” he continued. “There’s an intimacy to we’re going to go walk into a room and do this together. What a great forum to get to learn that.”

Hanson praised Stewart as someone who “represents the spirit of why this show is great.” Stewart thanked the singer for his “complement,” sharing more details about their relationship off the dancefloor.

“I think it’s really rare for people to really see you, and it just means so much that Taylor could see me through a distance,” she said. “Then, of course when we got paired. I mean he walked in the room in our first meet and I was like he’s for sure my partner. I just knew instantly.”

The professional dancer added, “Thank you for seeing me because I think sometimes I can be quiet or a little bit more reserved. I do what I do for so much more than for just me and for just dance. I do it for so many things, so thank you.”

Hanson and Stewart went home in a shocking elimination at the end of Tuesday’s *DWTS* episode. The duo performed a foxtrot to “What a Fool Believes” by The Doobie Brothers for “Yacht Rock Night.” They scored an 18 out of 30. After their names were announced as the eliminated pair, Stewart looked at Hanson and could be seen mouthing, “Oh my god. I’m so sorry.”

After the show, Stewart and Hanson spoke with *Entertainment Tonight**, where the* *DWTS* pro explained her reaction.

“I’m sorry because we could’ve had a longer journey,” she said on Tuesday. “And mostly I’m just sorry because I’ve met someone [who’s like] a reflection. I see myself a lot in Taylor and so, really, I’m sorry that we won’t get to spend every day together for the next few weeks.”

Hanson admitted that he was “disappointed” that they didn’t go further because he wanted to win the Mirrorball by Stewart. “I am going to struggle with that.”
