Bruce Campbell has spoken more openly about his cancer diagnosis, saying he has been given a prognosis of about five years.
The 68-year-old horror icon announced his cancer diagnosis on March 2, 2026, through social media. At the time, he wrote a lengthy letter for his fans, adding that he did so because he had to cancel many of his forthcoming schedules.
“The good news is, I’m not going to go into any more detail. I’m posting this, because professionally, a few things will have to change – appearances and cons and work in general need to take [a] back seat to treatment. There are several cons this year summer [sic] that I have to cancel. Big regrets on my part. Treatment needs and professional obligations don’t always go hand-in-hand.”
Bruce Campbell added that his message wasn’t meant to “enlist sympathy.”
“I just want to get ahead of this information in case false information gets out (which it will). Fear not, I am a tough old son-of-a-b**** and I have great support, so I expect to be around a while. As always, you’re the greatest fans in the world and I hope to see you soon!”
He also apologized to his supporters for the unfortunate news, while also writing that he considers his health issue an “opportunity.”
“Hi folks, these days, when someone is having a health issue, it’s referred to as an 'opportunity,' so let’s go with that – I’m having one of those. It’s also called a type of cancer that’s 'treatable' not 'curable.' I apologize if that’s a shock – it was to me too.”
Bruce Campbell confirms cancer prognosis
Meanwhile, in his latest appearance on The Adam Carolla Show, Bruce Campbell discussed his health status while still keeping the type of cancer he has under wraps.

During the interview, Bruce Campbell was promoting Ernie & Emma, an independent film he wrote, directed, produced, and stars in.

The movie follows a man dealing with the death of his wife, giving the project a personal connection to Campbell’s current circumstances.
The actor explained that he is working with a five-year prognosis related to his type of cancer. Host Adam Carolla then asked him:
"So the prognosis is that you have five years to live?"
Campbell responded:
“Give or take.”
Campbell rose to fame through the Evil Dead franchise, where he played Ash Williams and also served as a co-producer on the horror films. His career has also included roles in television, live-action movies, and voice work.

Some of his voice roles include Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Cars 2, and The Ant Bully.
Despite his health struggles, Campbell has not ceased to work. Ernie & Emma is yet another artistic endeavor on the part of the actor while undergoing treatment for cancer that he calls "treatable."
Campbell has not shared any further information regarding his diagnosis or treatment.
