The longtime singer is from Alabama and has one son
Ahead of the semifinals, she wrote on Instagram that her journey on The Voice "hasn't been easy, but it's been worth it"
Alexia Jayy has joined the ranks of The Voice winners.
The Alabama native made an impression during the season 29 premiere when she received chair turns from all three coaches with her blind audition to Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman." Several weeks (and emotional ballads!) later, Jayy was crowned the season 29 winner of the competition reality show, marking a victory for Team Adam Levine.
Ahead of the semifinals on April 13, Jayy shared a heartfelt message on Instagram while reflecting on her experience, writing, "This journey hasn't been easy, but it's been worth it and I don't take a single moment of it for granted."
"And to the other incredible artists standing beside me in this Top 9… it's been an honor sharing this journey with you," she wrote. "Y'all are not only insanely talented, but genuinely good people, and I'm grateful for the laughs, the support, and the moments we've shared behind the scenes. No matter what happens, we already won in so many ways."
Jayy added, "Tomorrow, I'm not just singing for me… I'm singing for everybody who believes in me, everybody who's ever poured into me, and everybody back home."
So, who won The Voice? Here's everything to know about season 29 winner Alexia Jayy.

During a conversation with Flaunt, Jayy reflected on growing up in Irvington, Ala., calling it a "super small town" where "everybody knows each other."
"Everybody went to school together. It was pretty cool growing up now that I'm older," she said. "Everybody I go to church with is a part of my family. We're all cousins in there singing and everybody sings. I grew up around a bunch of family and a lot of friends that I don't have to get rid of."
Jayy added, "I know in the city, they come and they go. You never know who you're going to meet. But down here, everybody knows each other. So it's pretty good."
She is a mom

Jayy is a mom to her son, Matthew, who joined her onstage after her audition on The Voice.
"Your momma is a — don't say this word — but a badass," coach Kelly Clarkson said to Matthew. "You can't say that word until you pay your bills."

When coach John Legend asked Matthew what kind of music he listens to, he ironically said "Maroon 5," prompting Levine — who is the frontman of the band — to give him a fist bump.

Jayy has been singing since she was 2 years old. When she was 9, she joined a group and performed at the famed Apollo Theater for Amateur Night, per Flaunt.
"Out of all the things I did, I think that's the only thing I remember," she told Flaunt of performing at Apollo Theater. "'M like 'Michael Jackson was here, and I'm here! Why am I here?!' [laughs] I had to perform against the adults at the time, because I don't know what happened as far as the kids show. I ended up performing with the adults. I ended up winning and I got McDonalds afterwards, so I was super giddy as a kid. You don't really know what's going on."
She continued singing through college and eventually released her debut single, "Who Raised You," in 2021.
"I've been singing the majority of my life, and I'm trying to continue to do that," she told Flaunt.
Levine predicted her win in the premiere

Long before Jayy was crowned champion, Levine predicted that she would win season 29.
Following her blind audition, Levine — who hadn't yet been chosen as her coach — delivered a passionate speech to get her on his team, saying, "You have that voice that motivates me even more to say you know what, this is the best voice in the competition."
He continued, "This is who has to win and we have to make the right choices. I have that feeling that I don't get often. I think we all do. You're one of the best we've ever seen."
After she won on April 14, Levine and Jayy performed Maroon 5's hit song "Sunday Morning" together at Blue Note Los Angeles, which was hosting a watch party for the finale.
She shared the clip on her Instagram, writing, "A whole watch party for the finale… then hearing my name called as the winner 😩🙌🏾 I got on that stage right after, poured my heart out, and even had a lil duet with Adam 🎶."
Jayy continued, "Thank y'all for real… the way you keep showing up and showing OUT for me? I feel every bit of it. Forever grateful."
